Zechariah 4
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
vayashav hamalach hadover bi vayireni keish asher-yeor mishnato
2E ele me disse: O que vês? E eu respondi: Eis que vejo um castiçal de ouro maciço, com um recipiente de azeite sobre seu topo, e sete lâmpadas sobre ele; e cada uma das sete lâmpadas tinha um tubo em seu topo;
vayomer elay mah atah roeh vymr raiti vehineh menorat zahav kulah vegulah al-roshah veshivah neroteha aleha shivah veshivah mutsakot lanerot asher al-roshah
3E duas oliveiras junto a ele, uma à direita do recipiente, e uma à esquerda.
ushnayim zetim aleha echad mimin hagulah veechad al-semolah
vaaan vaomar el-hamalach hadover bi lemor mah-eleh adoni
vayaan hamalach hadover bi vayomer elay halo yadata mah-hemah eleh vaomar lo adoni
vayaan vayomer elay lemor zeh devar-Yahweh el-zerubavel lemor lo vechayil velo vechocha ki im-beruchi amar Yahweh tsevaot
mi-atah har-hagadol lifne zerubavel lemishor vehotsi et-haeven haroshah teshuot chen chen lah
8E palavra do SENHOR veio a mim, dizendo:
vayhi devar-Yahweh elay lemor
yede zerubavel yisdu habayit hazeh veyadayv tevatsanah veyadata ki-Yahweh tsevaot shelachani alechem
ki mi vaz leyom ketanot vesamchu verau et-haeven habdil beyad zerubavel shivah-eleh ene Yahweh hemah meshottim bechal-haarets
vaaan vaomar elayv mah-shene hazetim haeleh al-yemin hamnorah veal-semovlah
vaaan shenit vaomar elayv mah-shete shibale hazetim asher beyad shene tsantrot hazahav hamrikim mealehem hazahav
vayomer elay lemor halo yadata mah-eleh vaomar lo adoni
vayomer eleh shene vene-hayitshar haomdim al-adon kal-haarets
