Song of Songs 3
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.

[Eu lhes perguntei] : Vistes a quem minha alma ama?

4Pouco [depois] de me afastar deles, logo achei a quem minha alma ama. Eu o segurei, e não o deixei ir embora, até eu ter lhe trazido à casa de minha mãe, ao cômodo daquela que me gerou.
