Psalms 16
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Cântico de Davi: Guarda-me, ó Deus; porque eu confio em ti.
amart layhvah adonay atah tovati bal-alecha
likdoshim asher-baarets hemah veadire kal-cheftsi-vam
yirbu atsvotam acher maharu bal-asich niskehem midam uval-esa et-shemotam al-sefatay
5O SENHOR é a porção da minha herança e o meu cálice; tu sustentas a minha sorte.
Yahweh menat-chelki vechosi atah tomich gorali
chavalim naflu-li banimim af-nachalat shafrah alay
7Eu louvarei ao SENHOR, que me aconselhou; até de noite meus sentimentos me ensinam.
avarech et-Yahweh asher yeatsani af-lelot yisruni chilyotay
lachen samach libi vayagel kevodi af-besari yishkon lavetach
ki lo-taazov nafshi lishol lo-titen chasidcha lirot shachat
