Psalms 149
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Aleluia! Cantai ao SENHOR um cântico novo; [haja] louvor a ele na congregação dos santos.
הַ֥לְלוּ יָ֨הּ ׀ שִׁ֣ירוּ לַֽ֭יהוָה שִׁ֣יר חָדָ֑שׁ תְּ֝הִלָּת֗וֹ בִּקְהַ֥ל חֲסִידִֽים׃
hallu yah shiru layhvah shir chadash tehilato bikhal chasidim
2Alegre-se Israel em seu Criador; os filhos de Sião se encham de alegria em seu Rei.
יִשְׂמַ֣ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל בְּעֹשָׂ֑יו בְּנֵֽי־צִ֝יּ֗וֹן יָגִ֥ילוּ בְמַלְכָּֽם׃
yismach yisrael beosayv bene-tsion yagilu vemalkam
3Louvem seu nome com danças; cantai louvores a ele com tamborim e harpa.
יְהַֽלְל֣וּ שְׁמ֣וֹ בְמָח֑וֹל בְּתֹ֥ף וְ֝כִנּ֗וֹר יְזַמְּרוּ־לֽוֹ׃
yehallu shemo vemachol betof vechinor yezamru-lo
4Porque o SENHOR se agrada de seu povo; ele ornará os mansos com salvação.
כִּֽי־רוֹצֶ֣ה יְהוָ֣ה בְּעַמּ֑וֹ יְפָאֵ֥ר עֲ֝נָוִ֗ים בִּישׁוּעָֽה׃
ki-rotseh Yahweh beamo yefaer anavim bishuah
5Saltem de prazer [seus] santos pela glória; fiquem contentes sobre suas camas.
יַעְלְז֣וּ חֲסִידִ֣ים בְּכָב֑וֹד יְ֝רַנְּנ֗וּ עַל־מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָֽם׃
yalzu chasidim bechavod yerannu al-mishkvotam
6Exaltações a Deus [estarão] em suas gargantas; e espada afiada [estará] em sua mão,
רוֹמְמ֣וֹת אֵ֭ל בִּגְרוֹנָ֑ם וְחֶ֖רֶב פִּֽיפִיּ֣וֹת בְּיָדָֽם׃
rommot el bigronam vecherev pifiot beyadam
7Para se vingarem das nações, e repreenderem aos povos.
לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת נְ֭קָמָה בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם תּֽ֝וֹכֵחֹ֗ת בַּל־אֻמִּֽים׃
laasot nekamah bagoyim tochechot bal-umim
8Para prenderem a seus reis com correntes, e seus nobres com grilhões de ferro;
לֶאְסֹ֣ר מַלְכֵיהֶ֣ם בְּזִקִּ֑ים וְ֝נִכְבְּדֵיהֶ֗ם בְּכַבְלֵ֥י בַרְזֶֽל׃
lesor malchehem bezikim venichbdehem bechavle varzel
9Para executarem sobre eles a sentença escrita; esta [será] a glória de todos os seus santos. Aleluia!
לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת בָּהֶ֨ם ׀ מִשְׁפָּ֬ט כָּת֗וּב הָדָ֣ר ה֭וּא לְכָל־חֲסִידָ֗יו הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃
