Psalms 138
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Salmo de Davi: Louvarei a ti com todo o meu coração; na presença dos deuses cantarei louvores a ti.
לְדָוִ֨ד ׀ אוֹדְךָ֥ בְכָל־לִבִּ֑י נֶ֖גֶד אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲזַמְּרֶֽךָּ׃
ledavid odcha vechal-libi neged elohim azamrecha
2Eu me prostrarei ao teu santo templo, e louvarei o teu nome por tua bondade e por tua verdade; porque engrandeceste tua palavra [e] teu nome acima de tudo.
אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֨ה אֶל־הֵיכַ֪ל קָדְשְׁךָ֡ וְא֘וֹדֶ֤ה אֶת־שְׁמֶ֗ךָ עַל־חַסְדְּךָ֥ וְעַל־אֲמִתֶּ֑ךָ כִּֽי־הִגְדַּ֥לְתָּ עַל־כָּל־שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ אִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃
eshtachaveh el-hechal kadshcha veodeh et-shemecha al-chasdcha veal-amitecha ki-higdalta al-kal-shimcha imratecha
3No dia [em que] clamei, tu me respondeste; [e] me fortaleceste [com] força em minha alma.
בְּי֣וֹם קָ֭רָֽאתִי וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֑נִי תַּרְהִבֵ֖נִי בְנַפְשִׁ֣י עֹֽז׃
beyom karati vataaneni tarhiveni venafshi oz
4Todos os reis da terra louvarão a ti, SENHOR, quando ouvirem as palavras de tua boca.
יוֹד֣וּךָ יְ֭הוָה כָּל־מַלְכֵי־אָ֑רֶץ כִּ֥י שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ אִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃
yoducha Yahweh kal-malche-arets ki shamu imre-ficha
5E cantarão sobre os caminhos do SENHOR, pois grande [é] a glória do SENHOR.
וְ֭יָשִׁירוּ בְּדַרְכֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֥י גָ֝ד֗וֹל כְּב֣וֹד יְהוָֽה׃
veyashiru bedarche Yahweh ki gadol kevod Yahweh
6Porque [mesmo] sendo SENHOR elevado, ele presta atenção ao humilde; porém ele reconhece o arrogante de longe.
כִּי־רָ֣ם יְ֭הוָה וְשָׁפָ֣ל יִרְאֶ֑ה וְ֝גָבֹ֗הַּ מִמֶּרְחָ֥ק יְיֵדָֽע׃
ki-ram Yahweh veshafal yireh vegavoha mimerchak yeyeda
7Enquanto ando no meio da angústia, tu me vivificas; tu estendes tua mão contra a ira de meus inimigos; e tua mão direita me salva.
אִם־אֵלֵ֤ךְ ׀ בְּקֶ֥רֶב צָרָ֗ה תְּחַ֫יֵּ֥נִי עַ֤ל אַ֣ף אֹ֭יְבַי תִּשְׁלַ֣ח יָדֶ֑ךָ וְת֖וֹשִׁיעֵ֣נִי יְמִינֶֽךָ׃
im-elech bekerev tsarah techayeni al af oyvay tishlach yadecha vetoshieni yeminecha
8O SENHOR fará por completo [o que ele tem] para mim; ó SENHOR, tua bondade [dura] para sempre; não abandones as obras de tuas mãos.
יְהוָה֮ יִגְמֹ֪ר בַּ֫עֲדִ֥י יְ֭הוָה חַסְדְּךָ֣ לְעוֹלָ֑ם מַעֲשֵׂ֖י יָדֶ֣יךָ אַל־תֶּֽרֶף׃
