Psalms 124
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Cântico dos degraus, de Davi: Diga, Israel: O que [seria de nós] se o SENHOR não estivesse conosco?
שִׁ֥יר הַֽמַּעֲל֗וֹת לְדָ֫וִ֥ד לוּלֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה שֶׁהָ֣יָה לָ֑נוּ יֹֽאמַר־נָ֝א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
shir hamaalot ledavid lule Yahweh shehayah lanu yomar-na yisrael
2Se o SENHOR não estivesse conosco, quando os homens se levantaram contra nós,
לוּלֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה שֶׁהָ֣יָה לָ֑נוּ בְּק֖וּם עָלֵ֣ינוּ אָדָֽם׃
lule Yahweh shehayah lanu bekum alenu adam
3Eles teriam nos devorado vivos, quando o furor deles se acendeu contra nós.
אֲ֭זַי חַיִּ֣ים בְּלָע֑וּנוּ בַּחֲר֖וֹת אַפָּ֣ם בָּֽנוּ׃
azay chayim belaunu bacharot apam banu
4As águas teriam nos coberto, [e] a corrente de águas teria passado por sobre nossas almas.
אֲ֭זַי הַמַּ֣יִם שְׁטָפ֑וּנוּ נַ֗֜חְלָה עָבַ֥ר עַל־נַפְשֵֽׁנוּ׃
azay hamayim shetafunu nachlah avar al-nafshenu
5Águas violentas teriam passado por sobre nossas almas.
אֲ֭זַי עָבַ֣ר עַל־נַפְשֵׁ֑נוּ הַ֝מַּ֗יִם הַזֵּֽידוֹנִֽים׃
azay avar al-nafshenu hamayim hazedonim
6Bendito seja o SENHOR, que não nos entregou como presa aos dentes deles.
בָּר֥וּךְ יְהוָ֑ה שֶׁלֹּ֥א נְתָנָ֥נוּ טֶ֝֗רֶף לְשִׁנֵּיהֶֽם׃
baruch Yahweh shelo netananu teref leshinehem
7Nossa alma escapou como um pássaro da armadilha dos caçadores; a cadeia se quebrou, e nós escapamos.
נַפְשֵׁ֗נוּ כְּצִפּ֥וֹר נִמְלְטָה֮ מִפַּ֪ח י֫וֹקְשִׁ֥ים הַפַּ֥ח נִשְׁבָּ֗ר וַאֲנַ֥חְנוּ נִמְלָֽטְנוּ׃
nafshenu ketsipor nimltah mipach yokshim hapach nishbar vaanachnu nimlatnu
8Nosso socorro está no nome do SENHOR, que fez o céu e a terra.
עֶ֭זְרֵנוּ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃
