Psalms 122
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Cântico dos degraus, de Davi: Alegro-me com os que me dizem: Vamos à casa do SENHOR.
שִׁ֥יר הַֽמַּעֲל֗וֹת לְדָ֫וִ֥ד שָׂ֭מַחְתִּי בְּאֹמְרִ֣ים לִ֑י בֵּ֖ית יְהוָ֣ה נֵלֵֽךְ׃
shir hamaalot ledavid samachti beomrim li bet Yahweh nelech
2Nossos pés estão [adentro] de tuas portas, ó Jerusalém.
עֹ֭מְדוֹת הָי֣וּ רַגְלֵ֑ינוּ בִּ֝שְׁעָרַ֗יִךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

3Jerusalém está edificada como uma cidade bem unida;
יְרוּשָׁלִַ֥ם הַבְּנוּיָ֑ה כְּ֝עִ֗יר שֶׁחֻבְּרָה־לָּ֥הּ יַחְדָּֽו׃
yerushalim habnuyah keir shechubrah-lah yachdav
4Para onde as tribos sobem, as tribos do SENHOR, como testemunho de Israel, para agradecerem ao nome do SENHOR.
שֶׁשָּׁ֨ם עָל֪וּ שְׁבָטִ֡ים שִׁבְטֵי־יָ֭הּ עֵד֣וּת לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לְ֝הֹד֗וֹת לְשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָֽה׃
shesham alu shevatim shivte-yah edut leyisrael lehodot leshem Yahweh
5Porque ali estão as cadeiras do julgamento; as cadeiras da casa de Davi.
כִּ֤י שָׁ֨מָּה ׀ יָשְׁב֣וּ כִסְא֣וֹת לְמִשְׁפָּ֑ט כִּ֝סְא֗וֹת לְבֵ֣ית דָּוִֽיד׃
ki shamah yashvu chisot lemishpat kisot levet david
6Orai pela paz de Jerusalém; prosperem os que te amam.
שַׁ֭אֲלוּ שְׁל֣וֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם יִ֝שְׁלָ֗יוּ אֹהֲבָֽיִךְ׃
shaalu shelom yerushalim yishlayu ohavayich
7Paz haja em teus muros, e prosperidade em tuas fortalezas.
יְהִֽי־שָׁל֥וֹם בְּחֵילֵ֑ךְ שַׁ֝לְוָ֗ה בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָֽיִךְ׃
yehi-shalom bechelech shalvah bearmnotayich
8Por meus irmãos e amigos, assim falarei: Paz haja em ti.
לְ֭מַעַן אַחַ֣י וְרֵעָ֑י אֲדַבְּרָה־נָּ֖א שָׁל֣וֹם בָּֽךְ׃
lemaan achay vereay adabrah-na shalom bach
9Pela Casa do SENHOR nosso Deus, buscarei o bem para ti.
לְ֭מַעַן בֵּית־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ אֲבַקְשָׁ֖ה ט֣וֹב לָֽךְ׃
