Psalms 121
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Cântico dos degraus: Levanto meus olhos aos montes. De onde virá meu socorro?
שִׁ֗יר לַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת אֶשָּׂ֣א עֵ֭ינַי אֶל־הֶהָרִ֑ים מֵ֝אַ֗יִן יָבֹ֥א עֶזְרִֽי׃
shir lamaalot esa enay el-heharim meayin yavo ezri
2Meu socorro [vem] do SENHOR, que fez os céus e a terra.
עֶ֭זְרִי מֵעִ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃
ezri meim Yahweh oseh shamayim vaarets
3Ele não deixará o teu pé se abalar, nem cochilará o teu guardião.
אַל־יִתֵּ֣ן לַמּ֣וֹט רַגְלֶ֑ךָ אַל־יָ֝נ֗וּם שֹֽׁמְרֶֽךָ׃
al-yiten lamot raglecha al-yanum shomrecha
4Eis que não cochilará nem dormirá o Guardião de Israel.
הִנֵּ֣ה לֹֽא־יָ֭נוּם וְלֹ֣א יִישָׁ֑ן שׁ֝וֹמֵ֗ר יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
hineh lo-yanum velo yishan shomer yisrael
5O SENHOR é o teu guardião; o SENHOR é a sombra à tua direita.
יְהוָ֥ה שֹׁמְרֶ֑ךָ יְהוָ֥ה צִ֝לְּךָ֗ עַל־יַ֥ד יְמִינֶֽךָ׃
Yahweh shomrecha Yahweh tsilcha al-yad yeminecha
6O sol não te ferirá durante o dia, nem a lua durante a noite.
יוֹמָ֗ם הַשֶּׁ֥מֶשׁ לֹֽא־יַכֶּ֗כָּה וְיָרֵ֥חַ בַּלָּֽיְלָה׃
yomam hashemesh lo-yakekah veyarecha balaylah
7O SENHOR te guardará de todo mal; ele guardará a tua alma.
יְֽהוָ֗ה יִשְׁמָרְךָ֥ מִכָּל־רָ֑ע יִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר אֶת־נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃
Yahweh yishmarcha mikal-ra yishmor et-nafshecha
8O SENHOR guardará tua saída e tua entrada, desde agora e para sempre.
יְֽהוָ֗ה יִשְׁמָר־צֵאתְךָ֥ וּבוֹאֶ֑ךָ מֵֽ֝עַתָּ֗ה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם׃
