Psalms 120
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Cântico dos degraus: Em minha angústia clamei ao SENHOR, e ele me respondeu.
שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת אֶל־יְ֭הוָה בַּצָּרָ֣תָה לִּ֑י קָ֝רָ֗אתִי וַֽיַּעֲנֵֽנִי׃
shir hamaalot el-Yahweh batsaratah li karati vayaaneni
2Ó SENHOR, livra minha alma dos lábios mentirosos, da língua enganadora.
יְֽהוָ֗ה הַצִּ֣ילָה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִשְּׂפַת־שֶׁ֑קֶר מִלָּשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃
Yahweh hatsilah nafshi misfat-sheker milashon remiyah
3O que ele te dará, e o que ele fará contigo, ó língua enganadora?
מַה־יִּתֵּ֣ן לְ֭ךָ וּמַה־יֹּסִ֥יף לָ֗ךְ לָשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃
mah-yiten lecha umah-yosif lach lashon remiyah
oyah-li ki-garti meshech shachanti im-ahole kedar
