Jonah 3
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1E a palavra do SENHOR veio pela segunda vez a Jonas, dizendo:
vayhi devar-Yahweh el-yonah shenit lemor
kum lech el-ninveh hair hagdolah uikra eleha et-hakriah asher anochi dover elecha
vayakam yonah vayelech el-ninveh kidvar Yahweh veninveh haytah ir-gedolah lelohim mahalach sheloshet yamim
vayachel yonah lavo vair mahalach yom echad vayikra vayomar od arbaim yom veninveh nehpachet
vayaaminu anshe ninveh belohim vayikru-tsom vayilbshu sakim migdolam vead-ketanam
vayiga hadavar el-melech ninveh vayakam mikiso vayaaver adarto mealayv vaychas sak vayeshev al-haefer
7E convocou e anunciou em Nínive, por mandado do rei e de seus maiorais, dizendo: Nem pessoas nem animais, nem bois nem ovelhas, provem coisa alguma, nem se lhes dê alimento, nem bebam água;
vayazek vayomer beninveh mitaam hamelech ugdolayv lemor haadam vehabhemah habakar vehatson al-yitamu meumah al-yiru umayim al-yishtu
veyitkasu sakim haadam vehabhemah veyikru el-elohim bechazkah veyashuvu ish midarko haraah umin-hechamas asher bechapehem
mi-yodea yashuv venicham haelohim veshav mecharon apo velo noved
