Job 9
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Mas Jó respondeu, dizendo:
vayaan iov vayomar
im-yachpots lariv imo lo-yaanenu achat mini-alef
chacham levav veamits kocha mi-hikshah elayv vayishlam
hamatik harim velo yadau asher hafacham beapo
hamargiz erets mimkomah veamudeha yitfalatsun
haomer lacheres velo yizrach uvad kochavim yachtom
noteh shamayim levado vedorech al-bamote yam
9Ele é o que fez a Usra, o Órion, as Plêiades, e as constelações do sul.
oseh-ash kesil vechimah vechadre teman
10Ele é o que faz coisas grandes e incompreensíveis, e inúmeras maravilhas.
hen yaavor alay velo ereh veyachalof velo-avin lo
eloha lo-yashiv apo tchtv shachachu ozre rahav
14Como poderia eu lhe responder, e escolher minhas palavras contra ele?
af ki-anochi eenenu evcharah devaray imo
15A ele, ainda que eu fosse justo, não lhe responderia; a meu juiz pediria misericórdia.
im-karati vayaaneni lo-aamin ki-yaazin koli
asher-bisarah yeshufeni vehirbah fetsaay chinam
18Ele não me permite respirar; em vez disso, me farta de amarguras.
im-lechocha amits hineh veim-lemishpat mi yoideni
20Ainda que eu seja justo, minha boca me condenaria; se eu fosse inocente, então ela me declararia perverso.
im-etsdak pi yarshieni tam-ani vayaksheni
21Mesmo se eu for inocente, não estimo minha alma; desprezo minha vida.
tam-ani lo-eda nafshi emas chayay
achat hi al-ken amarti tam verasha hu mechaleh
im-shot yamit pitom lemasat nekiyim yilag
24A terra está entregue nas mãos dos perversos. Ele cobre o rosto de seus juízes. Se não é ele, então quem é?
erets nitnah veyad-rasha pene-shofteha yechaseh im-lo efo mi-hu
veyamay kalu mini-rats barchu lo-rau tovah
chalfu im-oniot eveh kenesher yatus ale-ochel
27Se disser: Esquecerei minha queixa, mudarei o aspecto do meu rosto, e sorrirei,
im-amri eshkchah sichi eezvah fanay veavligah
anochi ersha lamah-zeh hevel iga
im-hitrachatsti vmv -shaleg vahazikoti bevor kapay
31Então me submergirias no fosso, e minhas próprias vestes me abominariam.
ki-lo-ish kamoni eenenu navo yachdav bamishpat
yaser mealay shivto veemato al-tevaatani
35[Então] eu falaria, e não teria medo dele. Pois não está sendo assim comigo.
