Job 14
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1O homem, nascido de mulher, é curto de dias, e farto de inquietação;
adam yelud ishah ketsar yamim usva-rogez
ketsits yatsa vayimal vayivrach katsel velo yaamod

4Quem tirará algo puro do imundo? Ninguém.
im charutsim yamayv mispar-chodashayv itach chkv asita velo yaavor
sheeh mealayv veyechdal ad-yirtseh kesachir yomo

11As águas se vão do lago, e o rio se esgota, e se seca.
azlu-mayim mini-yam venahar yecherav veyavesh

13Ah, se tu me escondesses no Xeol, e me ocultasses até que a tua ira passasse, se me pusesses um limite de tempo, e te lembrasses de mim!

14Se o homem morrer, voltará a viver?

17Minha transgressão estaria selada numa bolsa, e tu encobririas minhas perversidades.

veulam har-nofel yibol vetsur yetak mimkomo
