Isaiah 39
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1Naquele tempo, Merodaque-Baladã, filho de Baladã, rei da Babilônia, enviou [mensageiros com] cartas e um presente a Ezequias, porque tinha ouvido que ele havia ficado doente e já tinha se curado.
בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֡וא שָׁלַ֡ח מְרֹדַ֣ךְ בַּ֠לְאֲדָן בֶּֽן־בַּלְאֲדָ֧ן מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֛ל סְפָרִ֥ים וּמִנְחָ֖ה אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ וַיִּשְׁמַ֕ע כִּ֥י חָלָ֖ה וַֽיֶּחֱזָֽק׃
baet hahiv shalach merodach baladan ben-baladan melech-bavel sefarim uminchah el-chizkiyahu vayishma ki chalah vayechezak
2E Ezequias se alegrou com eles, e lhes mostrou a casa de teu tesouro, a prata, o ouro, as especiarias, os melhores óleos, e toda a sua casa de armas, e tudo quanto se achou em seus tesouros; coisa nenhuma houve, nem em sua casa, nem em todo o seu domínio, que Ezequias não lhes mostrasse.
וַיִּשְׂמַ֣ח עֲלֵיהֶם֮ חִזְקִיָּהוּ֒ וַיַּרְאֵ֣ם אֶת־בֵּ֣ית נכתה אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף֩ וְאֶת־הַזָּהָ֨ב וְאֶת־הַבְּשָׂמִ֜ים וְאֵ֣ת ׀ הַשֶּׁ֣מֶן הַטּ֗וֹב וְאֵת֙ כָּל־בֵּ֣ית כֵּלָ֔יו וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִמְצָ֖א בְּאֹֽצְרֹתָ֑יו לֹֽא־הָיָ֣ה דָבָ֗ר אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־הֶרְאָ֧ם חִזְקִיָּ֛הוּ בְּבֵית֖וֹ וּבְכָל־מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃

3Então o profeta Isaías veio ao rei Ezequias, e lhe disse: O que aqueles homens disseram? E de onde eles vieram a ti?E Ezequias disse: Eles vieram a mim de uma terra distante, da Babilônia.
וַיָּבֹא֙ יְשַׁעְיָ֣הוּ הַנָּבִ֔יא אֶל־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו מָ֥ה אָמְר֣וּ ׀ הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה וּמֵאַ֙יִן֙ יָבֹ֣אוּ אֵלֶ֔יךָ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ מֵאֶ֧רֶץ רְחוֹקָ֛ה בָּ֥אוּ אֵלַ֖י מִבָּבֶֽל׃
vayavo yeshayahu hanavi el-hamelech chizkiyahu vayomer elayv mah amru haanashim haeleh umeayin yavou elecha vayomer chizkiyahu meerets rechokah bau elay mibavel
4E ele lhe disse: O que viram em tua casa?E Ezequias disse: Eles viram tudo quanto há em minha casa; coisa nenhuma há em meus tesouros que eu não tenha lhes mostrado.
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מָ֥ה רָא֖וּ בְּבֵיתֶ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ אֵ֣ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֤ר בְּבֵיתִי֙ רָא֔וּ לֹֽא־הָיָ֥ה דָבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־הִרְאִיתִ֖ים בְּאוֹצְרֹתָֽי׃
vayomer mah rau bevetecha vayomer chizkiyahu et kal-asher beveti rau lo-hayah davar asher lo-hiritim beotsrotay
5Então Isaías disse a Ezequias: Ouve a palavra do SENHOR dos exércitos:
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ שְׁמַ֖ע דְּבַר־יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
vayomer yeshayahu el-chizkiyahu shema devar-Yahweh tsevaot
6Eis que vem dias em que tudo quanto houver em tua casa, e que teus pais acumularam até o dia de hoje, será levado à Babilônia; nada restará, diz o SENHOR.
הִנֵּה֮ יָמִ֣ים בָּאִים֒ וְנִשָּׂ֣א ׀ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּבֵיתֶ֗ךָ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר אָצְר֧וּ אֲבֹתֶ֛יךָ עַד־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה בָּבֶ֑ל לֹֽא־יִוָּתֵ֥ר דָּבָ֖ר אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃
hineh yamim baim venisa kal-asher bevetecha vaasher atsru avotecha ad-hayom hazeh bavel lo-yiuater davar amar Yahweh
7E [até] de teus filhos, que procederem de ti, e tu gerares, tomarão; e eles serão eunucos no palácio do rei da Babilônia.
וּמִבָּנֶ֜יךָ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֵצְא֧וּ מִמְּךָ֛ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תּוֹלִ֖יד יִקָּ֑חוּ וְהָיוּ֙ סָרִיסִ֔ים בְּהֵיכַ֖ל מֶ֥לֶךְ בָּבֶֽל׃
umibanecha asher yetsu mimcha asher tolid yikachu vehayu sarisim behechal melech bavel
8Então Ezequias disse a Isaías: Boa é a palavra do SENHOR que falaste.Disse também: Pois haverá paz e segurança em meus dias.
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ אֶֽל־יְשַׁעְיָ֔הוּ ט֥וֹב דְּבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבַּ֑רְתָּ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י יִהְיֶ֛ה שָׁל֥וֹם וֶאֱמֶ֖ת בְּיָמָֽי׃ פ
