Isaiah 20
Below each verse in the original comes an approximate reading, in italics, for anyone who wants to pronounce the text aloud. It is not academic transliteration: it does not mark stress or settle the cases that depend on grammatical analysis, and the four-letter Name is read “Yahweh”, by the founder’s decision — the Hebrew pointing instructs saying “Adonai”, and Portuguese Bibles render it “SENHOR”.
1No ano em que o general enviado por Sargom, rei da Assíria, veio a Asdode, guerreou contra Asdode, e a tomou,
בִּשְׁנַ֨ת בֹּ֤א תַרְתָּן֙ אַשְׁדּ֔וֹדָה בִּשְׁלֹ֣ח אֹת֔וֹ סַֽרְג֖וֹן מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וַיִּלָּ֥חֶם בְּאַשְׁדּ֖וֹד וַֽיִּלְכְּדָֽהּ׃

2Naquele tempo o SENHOR falou por meio de Isaías, filho de Amoz, dizendo: Vai, tira a roupa de saco de teus lombos, e descalça a sandália de teus pés.E assim ele fez, andando nu e descalço.
בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֗יא דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהוָה֮ בְּיַ֣ד יְשַׁעְיָ֣הוּ בֶן־אָמוֹץ֮ לֵאמֹר֒ לֵ֗ךְ וּפִתַּחְתָּ֤ הַשַּׂק֙ מֵעַ֣ל מָתְנֶ֔יךָ וְנַעַלְךָ֥ תַחֲלֹ֖ץ מֵעַ֣ל רַגְלֶ֑יךָ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ כֵּ֔ן הָלֹ֖ךְ עָר֥וֹם וְיָחֵֽף׃ ס

3Então o SENHOR disse: Assim como meu servo Isaías anda nu e descalço, [como] sinal e presságio relativo ao Egito e a Cuxe,
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלַ֛ךְ עַבְדִּ֥י יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ עָר֣וֹם וְיָחֵ֑ף שָׁלֹ֤שׁ שָׁנִים֙ א֣וֹת וּמוֹפֵ֔ת עַל־מִצְרַ֖יִם וְעַל־כּֽוּשׁ׃
vayomer Yahweh kaasher halach avdi yeshayahu arom veyachef shalosh shanim ot umofet al-mitsrayim veal-kush
4assim o rei da Assíria levará em cativeiro a prisioneiros do Egito e a prisioneiros de Cuxe, tanto jovens, como velhos, nus e descalços, e descobertas as nádegas, para envergonhar ao Egito.
כֵּ֣ן יִנְהַ֣ג מֶֽלֶךְ־אַ֠שּׁוּר אֶת־שְׁבִ֨י מִצְרַ֜יִם וְאֶת־גָּל֥וּת כּ֛וּשׁ נְעָרִ֥ים וּזְקֵנִ֖ים עָר֣וֹם וְיָחֵ֑ף וַחֲשׂוּפַ֥י שֵׁ֖ת עֶרְוַ֥ת מִצְרָֽיִם׃
ken yinhag melech-ashur et-shevi mitsrayim veet-galut kush nearim uzkenim arom veyachef vachasufay shet ervat mitsrayim
5E terão medo e vergonha por causa de Cuxe, em quem esperavam, e por causa do Egito, no qual se orgulhavam.
וְחַתּ֖וּ וָבֹ֑שׁוּ מִכּוּשׁ֙ מַבָּטָ֔ם וּמִן־מִצְרַ֖יִם תִּפְאַרְתָּֽם׃
vechatu vavoshu mikush mabatam umin-mitsrayim tifartam
6E os moradores do litoral dirão naquele dia: Vede [o que houve com] aqueles em quem esperávamos, a quem buscávamos socorro, para nos livrarmos da presença do rei da Assíria! E [agora] ,como escaparemos?
וְ֠אָמַר יֹשֵׁ֨ב הָאִ֣י הַזֶּה֮ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַהוּא֒ הִנֵּה־כֹ֣ה מַבָּטֵ֗נוּ אֲשֶׁר־נַ֤סְנוּ שָׁם֙ לְעֶזְרָ֔ה לְהִ֨נָּצֵ֔ל מִפְּנֵ֖י מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וְאֵ֖יךְ נִמָּלֵ֥ט אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃ ס
