1E subiu Naás amonita, e assentou acampamento contra Jabes de Gileade. E todos os de Jabes disseram a Naás: Faze aliança conosco, e te serviremos.

וַיַּ֗עַל נָחָשׁ֙ הָֽעַמּוֹנִ֔י וַיִּ֖חַן עַל־יָבֵ֣שׁ גִּלְעָ֑ד וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ כָּל־אַנְשֵׁ֤י יָבֵישׁ֙ אֶל־נָחָ֔שׁ כְּרָת־לָ֥נוּ בְרִ֖ית וְנַעַבְדֶֽךָּ׃

vayaal nachash haamoni vayichan al-yavesh gilad vayomru kal-anshe yavesh el-nachash kerat-lanu verit venaavdecha

2E Naás amonita lhes respondeu: Com esta condição farei aliança convosco, que a cada um de todos vós tire o olho direito, e ponha esta afronta sobre todo Israel.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם נָחָשׁ֙ הָעַמּוֹנִ֔י בְּזֹאת֙ אֶכְרֹ֣ת לָכֶ֔ם בִּנְק֥וֹר לָכֶ֖ם כָּל־עֵ֣ין יָמִ֑ין וְשַׂמְתִּ֥יהָ חֶרְפָּ֖ה עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

vayomer alehem nachash haamoni bezot echrot lachem binkor lachem kal-en yamin vesamtiha cherpah al-kal-yisrael

3Então os anciãos de Jabes lhe disseram: Dá-nos sete dias, para que enviemos mensageiros a todos os termos de Israel; e se ninguém houver que nos defenda, sairemos a ti.

וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֜יו זִקְנֵ֣י יָבֵ֗ישׁ הֶ֤רֶף לָ֙נוּ֙ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים וְנִשְׁלְחָה֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים בְּכֹ֖ל גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְאִם־אֵ֥ין מוֹשִׁ֛יעַ אֹתָ֖נוּ וְיָצָ֥אנוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

vayomru elayv zikne yavesh heref lanu shivat yamim venishlchah malachim bechol gevul yisrael veim-en moshia otanu veyatsanu elecha

4E chegando os mensageiros a Gibeá de Saul, disseram estas palavras em ouvidos do povo; e todo o povo chorou a voz em grito.

וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ הַמַּלְאָכִים֙ גִּבְעַ֣ת שָׁא֔וּל וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ הַדְּבָרִ֖ים בְּאָזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֑ם וַיִּשְׂא֧וּ כָל־הָעָ֛ם אֶת־קוֹלָ֖ם וַיִּבְכּֽוּ׃

vayavou hamalachim givat shaul vaydabru hadvarim beazne haam vayisu chal-haam et-kolam vayivku

5E eis que Saul que vinha do campo, atrás os bois; e disse Saul: Que tem o povo, que choram? E contaram-lhe as palavras dos homens de Jabes.

וְהִנֵּ֣ה שָׁא֗וּל בָּ֣א אַחֲרֵ֤י הַבָּקָר֙ מִן־הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל מַה־לָּעָ֖ם כִּ֣י יִבְכּ֑וּ וַיְסַ֨פְּרוּ־ל֔וֹ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֖י אַנְשֵׁ֥י יָבֵֽישׁ׃

vehineh shaul ba achare habakar min-hasadeh vayomer shaul mah-laam ki yivku vaysapru-lo et-divre anshe yavesh

6E o espírito de Deus arrebatou a Saul em ouvindo estas palavras, e acendeu-se em ira em grande maneira.

וַתִּצְלַ֤ח רֽוּחַ־אֱלֹהִים֙ עַל־שָׁא֔וּל בשמעו אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה וַיִּ֥חַר אַפּ֖וֹ מְאֹֽד׃

vatitslach rucha-elohim al-shaul vshmv et-hadvarim haeleh vayichar apo meod

7E tomando um par de bois, cortou-os em peças, e enviou-as por todos os termos de Israel por meio de mensageiros, dizendo: Qualquer um que não sair após Saul e após Samuel, assim será feito a seus bois. E caiu temor do SENHOR sobre o povo,

וַיִּקַּח֩ צֶ֨מֶד בָּקָ֜ר וַֽיְנַתְּחֵ֗הוּ וַיְשַׁלַּ֞ח בְּכָל־גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ בְּיַ֣ד הַמַּלְאָכִ֣ים ׀ לֵאמֹר֒ אֲשֶׁר֩ אֵינֶ֨נּוּ יֹצֵ֜א אַחֲרֵ֤י שָׁאוּל֙ וְאַחַ֣ר שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל כֹּ֥ה יֵעָשֶׂ֖ה לִבְקָר֑וֹ וַיִּפֹּ֤ל פַּֽחַד־יְהוָה֙ עַל־הָעָ֔ם וַיֵּצְא֖וּ כְּאִ֥ישׁ אֶחָֽד׃

vayikach tsemed bakar vaynatchehu vayshalach bechal-gevul yisrael beyad hamalachim lemor asher enenu yotse achare shaul veachar shemuel koh yeaseh livkaro vayipol pachad-Yahweh al-haam vayetsu keish echad

8E contou-lhes em Bezeque; e foram os filhos de Israel trezentos mil, e trinta mil os homens de Judá.

וַֽיִּפְקְדֵ֖ם בְּבָ֑זֶק וַיִּהְי֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ מֵא֣וֹת אֶ֔לֶף וְאִ֥ישׁ יְהוּדָ֖ה שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אָֽלֶף׃

vayifkdem bevazek vayihyu vene-yisrael shelosh meot elef veish yehudah sheloshim alef

9E responderam aos mensageiros que haviam vindo: Assim direis aos de Jabes de Gileade: Amanhã em aquecendo o sol, tereis salvamento. E vieram os mensageiros, e declararam-no aos de Jabes, os quais se alegraram.

וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ לַמַּלְאָכִ֣ים הַבָּאִ֗ים כֹּ֤ה תֹֽאמְרוּן֙ לְאִישׁ֙ יָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֔ד מָחָ֛ר תִּהְיֶֽה־לָכֶ֥ם תְּשׁוּעָ֖ה בחם הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ הַמַּלְאָכִ֗ים וַיַּגִּ֛ידוּ לְאַנְשֵׁ֥י יָבֵ֖ישׁ וַיִּשְׂמָֽחוּ׃

vayomru lamalachim habaim koh tomrun leish yavesh gilad machar tihyeh-lachem teshuah vchm hashamesh vayavou hamalachim vayagidu leanshe yavesh vayismachu

10E os de Jabes disseram: Amanhã sairemos a vós, para que façais conosco tudo o que bem vos parecer.

וַֽיֹּאמְרוּ֙ אַנְשֵׁ֣י יָבֵ֔ישׁ מָחָ֖ר נֵצֵ֣א אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ם לָּ֔נוּ כְּכָל־הַטּ֖וֹב בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃ ס

vayomru anshe yavesh machar netse alechem vaasitem lanu kechal-hatov beenechem

11E o dia seguinte dispôs Saul o povo em três esquadrões, e entraram em meio do acampamento à vigília da manhã, e feriram aos amonitas até que o dia aquecesse; e os que restaram foram dispersos, tal que não restaram dois deles juntos.

וַיְהִ֣י מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת וַיָּ֨שֶׂם שָׁא֣וּל אֶת־הָעָם֮ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה רָאשִׁים֒ וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ בְתוֹךְ־הַֽמַּחֲנֶה֙ בְּאַשְׁמֹ֣רֶת הַבֹּ֔קֶר וַיַּכּ֥וּ אֶת־עַמּ֖וֹן עַד־חֹ֣ם הַיּ֑וֹם וַיְהִ֤י הַנִּשְׁאָרִים֙ וַיָּפֻ֔צוּ וְלֹ֥א נִשְׁאֲרוּ־בָ֖ם שְׁנַ֥יִם יָֽחַד׃

vayhi mimachorat vayasem shaul et-haam sheloshah rashim vayavou vetoch-hamachaneh beashmoret haboker vayaku et-amon ad-chom hayom vayhi hanisharim vayafutsu velo nisharu-vam shenayim yachad

12O povo então disse a Samuel: Quem são o que diziam: Reinará Saul sobre nós? Dai-nos esses homens, e os mataremos.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הָעָם֙ אֶל־שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל מִ֣י הָאֹמֵ֔ר שָׁא֖וּל יִמְלֹ֣ךְ עָלֵ֑ינוּ תְּנ֥וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים וּנְמִיתֵֽם׃

vayomer haam el-shemuel mi haomer shaul yimloch alenu tenu haanashim unmitem

13E Saul disse: Não morrerá hoje ninguém, porque hoje operou o SENHOR salvação em Israel.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל לֹֽא־יוּמַ֥ת אִ֖ישׁ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֥י הַיּ֛וֹם עָשָֽׂה־יְהוָ֥ה תְּשׁוּעָ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ ס

vayomer shaul lo-yumat ish bayom hazeh ki hayom asah-Yahweh teshuah beyisrael

14Mas Samuel disse ao povo: Vinde, vamos a Gilgal para que renovemos ali o reino.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל֙ אֶל־הָעָ֔ם לְכ֖וּ וְנֵלְכָ֣ה הַגִּלְגָּ֑ל וּנְחַדֵּ֥שׁ שָׁ֖ם הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃

vayomer shemuel el-haam lechu venelchah hagilgal unchadesh sham hamluchah

15E foi todo o povo a Gilgal, e investiram ali a Saul por rei diante do SENHOR em Gilgal. E sacrificaram ali vítimas pacíficas diante do SENHOR; e alegraram-se muito ali Saul e todos os de Israel.

וַיֵּלְכ֨וּ כָל־הָעָ֜ם הַגִּלְגָּ֗ל וַיַּמְלִכוּ֩ שָׁ֨ם אֶת־שָׁא֜וּל לִפְנֵ֤י יְהוָה֙ בַּגִּלְגָּ֔ל וַיִּזְבְּחוּ־שָׁ֛ם זְבָחִ֥ים שְׁלָמִ֖ים לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּשְׂמַ֨ח שָׁ֥ם שָׁא֛וּל וְכָל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ פ

vayelchu chal-haam hagilgal vayamlichu sham et-shaul lifne Yahweh bagilgal vayizbchu-sham zevachim shelamim lifne Yahweh vayismach sham shaul vechal-anshe yisrael ad-meod
