The Massacre of Saint Bartholomew's Night
By testemunha ocular de J. H. Robinson · October 20, 2026
Publisher Os Puritanos (the brand appears on the cover). The e-book does not include a credits page, publication year, translator, or ISBN. The eyewitness account comes from J. H. Robinson (ed.), Readings in European History, Boston, vol. 2, p. 180 ff. The e-book states that the text was digitized by Brian Cheek (Hanover Historical Text Project, Hanover College, 11/12/1995), with revision and additional pages by Jonathan Perry (March 2001). The note on the painting is "extracted from LEBEN Magazine". The introductory text ends with the initials "WCJ", which the e-book does not explain. I could not identify the full name, and therefore did not record it. The central account is attributed to French historian and statesman De Thou (1553-1617), "still young, a witness to the massacre", in the version of historian J. H. Robinson. It is appropriate to register the author as "Unidentified Author (initials WCJ), with account by De Thou, in J. H. Robinson".
