Biblical Commentary on Obadiah: Expository and Exegetical
By Jean Carlos da Silva Alcântara · October 7, 2026
With only 21 verses, Obadiah is the smallest book of the Old Testament and one of the least studied. In this commentary, Professor Jean Carlos da Silva examines the prophecy verse by verse and explains why Edom, the nation descended from Esau, was judged: for pride and violence against his brother Jacob on the day Jerusalem fell. The work also addresses the Day of the Lord, the restoration of Israel, and the final promise that the kingdom will be the Lord's. Each verse is examined from two perspectives, theological and exegetical, supported by the Hebrew text, the Septuagint, and the Vulgate. Foreword by Pastor Elienai Cabral.
